An interview with Mike Marchany, Director, Inclusion and Learning
Our Director of Inclusion and Learning shares the vital inclusion, diversity, and equity (IDE) efforts underway at CorEvitas.
What does "inclusion" mean to CorEvitas?
Inclusion, diversity, and equity are core values at CorEvitas. Inclusion means providing our colleagues with a safe, respect-centric environment where we can bring our authentic selves to work and leverage what makes us unique, to unlock the power of innovation.
How are we ensuring we maximize diversity in our workforce, our philosophy, and our dataset?
We have undertaken many steps to ensure that inclusion, diversity, and equity are embedded into who we are and how we do business both internally and externally.
First, we focus on building a culture of continuous learning. We also have an Inclusion, Diversity & Equity council centered on driving change within the organization.
Second, we’ve launched multiple talent development programs for the organization, including Influence & Impact for underrepresented populations, Women’s Power Source to increase opportunities for those who identify as female, and CorElevation for emerging leaders. Inclusive Leadership training is included in all our development programs and will be mandatory for leaders in the future. We have supplemental Skillsoft e-learnings centered upon IDE that are open to everyone within the organization. Finally, we’ve enhanced our recruiting efforts to include all forms of diversity (including diversity of thought and neurodiversity).
What IDE initiatives are you most proud of implementing at CorEvitas?
Our IDE portal launched and is the central IDE hub for the organization. There, employees can find information on our IDE mission, learn who our IDE council members are, watch our IDE commitment video, find upcoming events, provide information on ways we can “give back” to our communities, and much more. This was a collaboration between me and many individuals within the organization, and I am thrilled it's now available. IDE is a shared commitment and a responsibility for all of us at CorEvitas.
How has the CorEvitas corporate ethos guided your work here?
I look at our IDE ambition daily, and it reminds me of our mission: “At CorEvitas, our ambition is to create one sustainable culture where everyone feels empowered to do their best, operate with integrity and inclusivity, and is a fun place to work and succeed.” This value guides me daily in our IDE efforts, and we strive to create an environment through which we can better serve patients and communities.
